After the terrible tragedies of September 11, 2001, the US Intelligence, Law Enforcement, and Emergency Response communities experienced a significant state of transition in order to meet the security challenges of our nation. Similarly, planning and response to protect our critical school environments must embrace a transformational mindset in order to safeguard the well-being of these communities. This critical understanding drives KTG’s collaborative, holistic, and evidentiary based approach to preparing for a crisis and mastering the techniques that lead to an effective response.
Plan and Policy Support
When an organization is confronted with having to respond to a crisis, preparedness is its greatest determinant for success. KTG’s SAFE preparedness work is underpinned by best practices that have proven successful in preparing organizations, leadership, and staff to effectively respond to a crisis.
Our team is able to leverage its extensive experience in the public and private sectors to expertly determine an organization’s needs and create new crisis and emergency response plans that integrate with local and national response frameworks. We are also adept at validating and updating any existing plans an organization already has.
Drills and Exercises
In addition to work with developing and refining crisis response plans, we offer partners a comprehensive learning opportunity through the development of exercises that test their plans and response mechanisms against an “actual” crisis. These exercises can range from full-scale, role-player-driven events to scaled-back tabletop exercises. Regardless of the scale and scope of the exercise, participants will learn how to effectively build, participate, lead, and manage a response which will enable them to be more effective in the face of an actual crisis.
